This project has been the talk of the town, even before its release and also heard that the preview show conducted for selected audiences and VVIPs, received highly positive reviews.
The promotional trailers which has been showing in theaters since last couple of months, created an extra interest in watching it, as we all love to watch super hero movies, again and again. In short, 'The Dark Knight Rises' distributed by Warner Bros is a hit, even before reaching theaters.
'The Dark Knight Rises' is the third sequel of the Batman stories. The first one 'Batman Begins', came in 2005, followed by 'The Dark Knight' in 2008. The director of these three versions is none other than Christopher Nolan, the creator of some super hit projects like 'Memento', 'Following', 'The Prestige', 'Inception' etc. The movie has got a notable star cast in the form of Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman etc and even Liam Neeson coming in a small role.
The story of this movie begins eight years after the previous version, 'The Dark Knight' ends. After the death of the dreaded criminal Harvey Dent, the city of Gotham is safe and crime free. The services of Batman is not needed any more. Bruce Wayne alias Batman (Christian Bale), after being broken physically and psychologically, takes rest in his house, for many years. At this time, the terrorist leader with a mask, takes the control of Gotham. Keeping the city under his legs, he is ready to launch the Nuclear weapon. There requires the rise of the super hero Batman, the thrilling moments of 'The Dark Knight Rises' begins.
Christopher Nolan has presented this action hero movie by filling all the necessary ingredients needed to attract the mass. You have got sequences with different emotions like action, romance, hatred, vengeance etc and ultimately, the winning is for the good over the evil. The screenplay is done in such a way that the rise of the super hero happens at the right time when the country needs him. You won't get bored, even if the length of the movie comes
around 2.45 hours. The fight between the hero and the villain, the escape of the hero from the captivity, the way in which the hero saves the city by carrying away the bomb etc are not new to any action movies made so far.
The movie is filled with some excellent action scenes. The air craft fight in the beginning, the appearance of the bat man and his bike, the chase happening through the streets, the rugby game, the different style aero vehicle used by the super hero etc are some of the attractions here. The bg score done by Hans Zimmer maintains the right mood through out the story. Wally Pfister's cinematography is rich. Lee Smith is the editor.
All the artists in the movie have performed well. The negative character cannot be compared with the impressive performance of the late actor Heath Ledger, who did the Joker role in the 'The Dark Knight'. The mask appearance of the new villain (Tom Hardy) remembers the Anthony Hopkins in Ridley Scott's 'Hannibal'. Though his voice creates some ups and downs in smooth hearing, it is not a problem due to the presence of subtitles (thanks for the theater management). It is good to see that the movie is not made in 3d, hence there won't be any complaints regarding the clear vision.
