Any movie filled with cinematic gimmicks accompanied by some excellent visual effects, cannot be treated the best, if the story is not a believable one. The latest hollywood movie, 'Men in Black 3' belongs to such a category. It is almost ten years, since the last version of 'Men in Black' has been released, while the first 'MIB' happened in 1997.
The story starts with the one armed villain escaping from a tight security zone on the moon. He wants to travel to the past, go back to 1969, and kill an young Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones), before his hand getting chopped off. Knowing about this, Agent J (Will Smith) also travels to the same period, to prevent his partner from the danger.
Unlike from the earlier series, we don't witness the usual chemistry happening between Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, the two agents in black suits, in this movie. Even though the story travels many years back, the agent looks the same and the age factor is not treated in a believable way. This creates a confusion, whether they are traveling to the period with the current appearance or whether they are trying to show the incident happened during the younger age of the Agent. The character of Will Smith is notable for its funny sequences, which we have seen in the last two series, but such a phenomenon is sadly missing here.
'Men in Black 3' is notable for its high end visual effects. The chasing scenes, climax fight and the morphing technologies in which ugly creatures coming out of the hands, cakes etc are the best examples. As I told above, when the story of the movie cannot be accepted easily, those areas containing the visual extravaganza won't get the required result.
Hollywood creators always run behind such unbelievable themes, sometimes their story tells about the future, on other occasions we are shown aliens and objects from another world attacking the earth, sometimes the super humans will rise to save the world, thus goes. The new movie, 'MIB 3' is also not different, here the story travels backward to the 60's, which is not the best move, as we are not expecting such a formulae from the Agents in black dress.
