Crime Story
Medium : Malayalam
Starring : Rahul Madhav, Vishnu Priya, Daniel Balaji, Kiran Raj, Anoop, Suresh Prem, Babitha
Director : Anil Thomas
Music : Ishaan Dev
After watching two movies in the week, even if there are still three - four pending, for a movie buffs like me, some times it will be difficult to create the priority order. Anyway, in a dilemma, I consulted with my friend, who gave the 'precious' advice, no to avoid the mother tongue...! Thus the decision to watch the new malayalam movie 'Crime Story' happened. Without many notable actors in the group, the only advantage in watching this one is the title 'Crime Story', that gives the impression of an investigation subject.
The movie tells about a professional fashion designer (Vishnu Priya, 'Penpattanam', 'Keralolsavam' fame), living with her husband (Anoop), a busy software engineer. He is having no time to look after the family life. Their neighbor (Rahul Madhav, 'Vaadamalli', 'Bangkok Summer' fame) gets in the close with the girl. At this time, another girl, a close friend of the couple, is found missing. The police officer (Daniel Balaji, 'Vettayadu Vilayadu', 'Kaakka Kaakka' fame) is conducting the investigation.
I usually practice the custom of entering the theater, at least a minute before the show, as I don't want to avoid the title credit sequences. This time, I came little late to see the name of the producers and the director rolling on screen. So, at the interval time, I have gone through the images displayed outside the theater, as I found many new names in it, I took a couple of stills in my mobile. Seeing this, the theater staff was asking 'what are you doing ?', I gave him the reply "I came late, I want to know who all are behind this 'crime'!" He laughed and told "this movie is a childish play, even the culprit is shown at the interval time, breaking the suspense, also the actors and their performances are amateurish, we have seen similar theme done in an excellent
manner in tamil movies like 'Sigappu Rojakkal' and 'Manmadhan', hope they might have not watched this !". Those words were honest and it came from a real critic.
So, it is not needed to conduct another detail postmortem on the movie. The actions of Rahul Madhav felt artificial. Vishnu Priya tried her best to fit in the role, even showed a couple of glamor moments in between. But, she is not having the charming face to attract the families or youths. The team behind should use a peculiar campaign for the heroine character, 'those who count the number of foot wears used by the girl, will be given a complimentary gift !' It is not a joke, Vishnu Priya has used at least 25 dozens of chappals (most of them costly ones also) in the movie. The family scenes of the girl and the husband has got the effect of some C grade movies only. Daniel Balaji, being a tamilian is allowed to dub in malayalam, the result is that it is hard to follow and becomes horrible, most of the times. Even the dialogues of senior police officer done by Chaali Paala, is dramatic.
Ishaan Dev (formerly Shaan Mon) had got a couple of romantic numbers. It is time to tell, whether they stays at the hearts of the viewers. The bg score is a mismatch in many places. The sound mixing is not done properly. The new director Anil Thomas has presented the movie in an amateurish manner. S.Kamal is the cinematographer. C.P.Vijayakumar is the editor. Suresh Krishnan is the script writer.

Crime Story is yet another example of a movie that has been presented in an unprofessional manner. Watching such a movie is similar to committing a crime.
