'Even after taking the harsh decision, not to watch the under rated movies, since this year's beginning, why did you choose this one ?', this was the reaction from my close friend, when I told him that I have watched 'Achante Aanmakkal'. My reply was that, when 'Supreme Star' Sharath Kumar itself is ready to act as a police officer in a family subject in malayalam, I didn't looked for the technicians in the group and other external factors or even forgot the 'oath'.
The end result of the movie showed that my assumption was wrong.
The movie is directed by Chandrasekharan ('Cheriya Lokavum Valiya Manushyarum', 'Arangu', 'Kerala Police' fame). Dileep Raman is the cinematographer. Rajagopal is the editor. Jassie Gift is the music director, S.P.Venkitesh is incharge of the bg score. The movie was announced with Padmapriya as the heroine, later she was replaced by Meghna Raj. Satheesh Mannoor's story has got script written by N.M.Nawaz, both being new comers in the field.
Madhava Menon (Nedumudi Venu) is a retd police officer. Narasimhan (Sharth Kumar) is working as DCP in Kovai city. He lives with his wife (Meghna Raj) and kid. His brother (Jagadeesh) is an inspector, living in native with his wife (Lakshmi Sharma) and kids. Narasimhan is aggressive and honest, but his brother is lazy in the profession. As a part of the investigation, Narasimhan reaches
Kerala. At this time, a controversial incident in the past has become a sensational news and Madhava Menon's family got affected due to this.
The presentation of the movie is very ordinary, resembles to those that has released in the early 90's. The majority of the sequences that has discussed here, lacks freshness and has seen in many movies before. The action situations created for the hero is the best example. The amateurish work of the director is evident through the 'big words' used by the child regarding his father, the usage of the actress Anushka's still in a film weekly that published almost 30years ago, the police officer solving the apartment issue through a single fight etc.
Sharath Kumar, being a malayalee character speaking tamil in a better way than the mother tongue, is not convincing; more over he gave the voice, which is not a welcome fact, all the time. His character telling the wife about their romance during the college days and the process of learning malayalam are unbelievable episodes. A couple of songs felt unnecessary. The first song starts with the IPS officer and his wife, when that itself is unwanted, the second police officer also came with his wife, keeping the viewers in a restless mood. The bg score of the movie felt very ordinary and unprofessional.
